The costs of open publishing and the scarcity of open access venues has motivated higher education institutions to provide high-quality, free open publishing services to the researchers through the libraries or by founding open access university presses, write Marja Hirn (Helsinki University Library) and Irene Ylönen (Open Science Centre, University of Jyväskylä) in Signum (3/2019). The services can consists of journal hosting services or open monographs publishing, especially in humanities and social sciences. This has been a growing library trend in 2019 and is likely to increase in the following years. (Markku Roinila)
