Abstract

This paper presents preliminary findings from the use of a questionnaire designed to assess secondary school students’ mathematics-related affect, with primary school students. More closely, the paper examines if a model for students’ view of themselves as learners of mathematics form the same categories with primary school students as they did with secondary school students, and if the results follow the trends that are identified in previous research. The preliminary findings on a small sample of students show that the statements used to study students’ view of themselves as learners of mathematics are, in most parts, consistent with previous research and, with caution, can be used also with primary school students.
