Introduction to transversal competence

Abstract

Transversal competence is at the heart of modern curricula and is seen as a way to meet the challenges of the future. This article examines transversal competence through research literature and explains what it really is and what it is needed for, how it is reflected in education policy and curricula, and how it is developed. In addition to these, the article also presents critical views on transversal compence and discusses its related challenges.
