Exploratory learning of radiation physics using GeigerLog v2.1 software in the Raspberry Pi 4 ’Bookworm’ Debian Linux environment

Abstract

Nano Smart Sensor plastic scintillator was tested using four radiation sources using GeigerLog v2.1, Smart Geiger Pro, and Atom Spectra softwares, of which GeigerLog v2.1 runs in the Raspberry Pi 4 ’Bookworm’ Debian Linux environment, and the two others in the Android environment. Pulse rates CPS, CPM were measured for a Ra-226 source, a uranium glass check source, and a thoriated TIG-elektrode using GeigerLog while pulse height spectra for the Ra-226 source and for a thoriated lantern mantle were measured using Atom Spectra.
